After the influx of CGI movies and the relative success of the fourth on screen outing for the heroes in a half shell (2007's TMNT), many children of the 90's had given up hope of ever seen a live action 'Turtles' film again.However , exciting reports are coming in today that suggest the fifth chapter in the saga , due for release in 2011, will mark a return to live-action for Leonardo, Rafael, Michelangelo and Donatello.
Even more exciting is how the characters may develop thanks to modern technology. Its been rumoured that CGI will still be used on the characters but only to replace the faces and make them more emotive. This is great news as it capitalises on modern technology but does not lose the appeal of live-action that has long been missing from children's action films.
The announcement of the fifth films production has coincided with the 25th anniversary celebrations taking place at New York's Tribeca Film Festival, whom are showing the original Teenge Mutant Ninja Turtles film today to mark the occasion.
